Shakhtar Legends Campaign 30-10-2008

On 30 October, a campaign Shakhtar Legends took place. Coaches and team captains of different seasons left their foot- and handprints in plaster for an exceptional Wall of Fame at the FC Shakhtar's Museum to be opened in Donbass Arena next year. Over 50 footballers and coaches, who have contributed to the history of FC Shakhtar, will be involved to create this unique piece of exhibition.

Along with coaches and captains, the Wall of Fame will show also the prints left by the footballers, who had achieved significant results while in Shakhtar and are remembered as the team's legendary strikers, goalkeepers, scorers of decisive or anniversary goals, etc. The prints will be taken by a group of sculptors. The procedure will be multistage, as it requires much time and efforts. Besides, it is impossible to deal with all Shakhtar stars at once.

The process will have the coaches and goal-keepers leave handprints and field players – their foot-prints.

Alongside the Wall of Fame, FC Shakhtar's Museum will also exhibit sculptures of footballers. A full-size plaster figure of Mikhail Sokolovsky (halfback) is almost over. The sculpture of Vitaliy Starukhin (forward) and a two-figure shape of Oleg Oshenkov (coach in 1960-1970) and Vladimir Salkov (coach in 1975-80s) are being created.

The FC Shakhtar's Museum will also accommodate a cinema to watch movies about the club including rare historical videos, and get familiar with the history of the Club. Moreover, true connoisseurs of Shakhtar's team history will gain access to the database with information about matches, players, events as well as a photo- and video gallery.
